    APLIMATEC´06 AWARDS TO TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

     
    The APLIMATEC?06 Award for Innovation in Technical Textiles is conceived to recognize
    contributions by individuals, technical teams and researchers from companies and
    institutions, in materials, technology or finished products from textiles and composites
    with technical applications. There are three categories in the awards.

    MATEX for innovation in raw materials, textile machinery and auxiliary installations, laboratory equipment, processes
    and products with technical applications in industrials sectors and services.

    APLITEC for innovation in finished products elaborated with textile materials, composite materials and associated
    products, for uses in agriculture and fishing; automobiles, passenger transport and goods vehicles; packaging, securing
    and lifting loads; construction and architecture textiles; sanitary, medical, hospital and hygiene purposes; personal
    protection and safety wear; environmental protection; sports and leisure; filtration, abrasives, support, coverings,
    reinforcing various industrial sectors.

    APLIMATEX for young innovators aimed at students or recent graduates who contribute an innovative development
    in the form of doctoral thesis, dissertation, final year project or other format, considered to offer an innovative
    contribution in the field of materials or textile products for technical applications.

    Conditions for APLIMATEC 2006 International Award for Innovation in Technical Textiles


    1. AIMS
    The APLIMATEC International Award for Innovation in Technical Textiles was set up to recognise outstanding contributions to technical applications in textile materials, including contributions in raw materials as well as processes, semi-elaborated products or finished products.

    2. CATEGORIES AND PRIZES
    The Awards are divided into three categories: MATEX, APLITEC and APLIMATEX for young innovators.

    2.1 MATEX for innovation in raw materials (fibres, chemical products, auxiliary), textile machinery and auxiliary installations, laboratory equipment, processes and products (threads, woven fabrics, knotted fabrics, non-woven fabrics, composites, tapes, ribbons, braiding, cables) elaborated and semi-elaborated products, with technical applications in industrials sectors and services.

    2.2 APLITEC for innovation in finished products elaborated with textile materials, composite materials and associated products, for uses in agriculture and fishing; automobiles, passenger transport and goods vehicles; packaging, securing and lifting loads; construction and architecture textiles; sanitary, medical, hospital and hygiene purposes; personal protection and safety wear; environmental protection; sports and leisure; filtration, abrasives, support, coverings, reinforcing various industrial sectors.

    2.3 APLIMATEX for young innovators aimed at students or recent graduates who contribute an innovative development in the form of doctoral thesis, dissertation, final year project or other format, considered to offer an innovative contribution in the field of materials or textile products for technical applications.

    2.4 The winners in each one of the three categories will receive an artistic prize with the identifying motif of APLIMATEC and a certifying diploma.

    2.5 The Jury will be entitled to declare any or all of the three categories of the APLIMATEC Award null and void, or to accord mentions of honour in all or some of the categories if it considers suitable.

    3. CANDIDATES

    3.1 All individuals or legal entities (in this last case indicating the individual author of the innovation) are eligible as candidates.

    3.2 The APLIMATEC International Award for Young Innovators is eligible for candidates up to a maximum age of 28 (proof must be provided if required).

    4. THEMES
    Those covered in points 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 above. The Jury has the exclusive entitlement to interpret whether the submitted works belong or not to the above-mentioned categories.

    5. CONDITIONS
    Candidates may enter the competition with as many works as they chose to submit. The works submitted must be original, and must not have been published or previously awarded, although they may be the subject of a patent or utility model with a date of presentation of less than one year prior to the publication of this announcement.

    6. PRESENTATION
    The works will be submitted with a title and without any indication of the name of the author nor, in its case, of the company. It should be accompanied by a closed envelope containing the author?s name and address. The outside of the envelope should indicate the motto and category of the prize for which the contestant wishes to enter.
    The works may be submitted in any format (plans, model, prototype, product, photographs, video, diskette, etc.), always accompanied by a written memo in duplicate, in Spanish or English, describing the originality of the work, its innovative nature, background and description.
    The works must be sent to Sr. Secretario del Comité Científico del Congreso APLIMATEC, AITEX, Plaza Emilio Sala, 1, E- 03801 ALCOY, Spain, before 20th January 2006.

    7. JURY

    7.1 The Jury of the awards will be made up by the members of the Scientific Committee of the APLIMATEC 2006 Conference at Feria Valencia, with the respective President and Secretary of the Committee acting as President and Secretary of the Jury.

    7.2 The verdict, reached with the participation of a minimum of nine members of the committee, apart from the President and the Secretary, will be emitted 30 days before the holding of the APLIMATEC Conference, and will be communicated to the winners at least 15 days before the prize giving ceremony.

    8. PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY
    The prize giving ceremony will take place alongside the 2006 APLIMATEC Fair and Conference.

    9. OWNERSHIP OF THE WORKS
    The authors of the awarded works retain the rights on ownership of the works.
    The Scientific Committee of the APLIMATEC Conference reserves the right to totally or partially publish and to publicise the winning works.
    The authors assume all liability against third parties for the originality and ownership of the works submitted to these Awards.

    10. RESPONSIBILITIES

    10.1 Participation in the APLIMATEC Awards implies a total acceptance of these conditions, and of the entitlement of the Jury to emit its verdict, which will be considered final.

    10.2 The Scientific Committee of the APLIMATEC 2006 Conference will be responsible for managing all the activities related with the organisation and granting of the APLIMATEC Awards in full agreement with the sponsoring organisations.

    10.3 All public or private organisations may be eligible to be considered sponsor of the awards, through financial or organizational contributions. These organisations will be mentioned in all the promotional material of these conditions, in the organisation of the awards, and in the announcement of the Jury?s verdict and the prize giving ceremony and subsequent publicising.
